Selective Mutism
Selective Mutism is an anxiety disorder in which a person who is otherwise capable of speech becomes unable to speak in specific social situations, such as school or public settings. It most commonly begins in childhood and is often linked to extreme shyness and social anxiety. Without intervention, it can persist into adulthood and significantly impact academic, social, and occupational functioning.
