Intermittent Explosive Disorder
Intermittent Explosive Disorder (IED) is characterized by recurrent episodes of impulsive, aggressive, violent behavior or angry verbal outbursts that are disproportionate to the situation. These episodes are not premeditated and cause significant distress or impairment. Individuals may later feel remorseful about their outbursts. Treatment includes cognitive-behavioral therapy and medication to manage aggression and impulsivity.
